Places of Interest in Leeds to Visit with a Car Hire

Leeds is a vibrant city with a number of exciting and fun things to do whether you are travelling solo, as a couple, with your family or with friends. One of the best places to begin is simply in the city centre. Leeds boasts an incredible amount and variety of delicious restaurants, trendy bars, cosy pubs, quirky cafes, fantastic shops and much more. Many people travel to the city simply for a full day of retail therapy in Trinity shopping centre followed by a few drinks later in the evening down Call Lane. If you head just outside the city centre in your low cost rent a car you will find the pleasant, student-friendly area of Headingley. It is here that you will find the start of the famous pub crawl “The Otley Run”, which begins at Woodies and a stamina-testing 15-stops later, you end up back in the city centre at Dry Dock - it’s not for the faint of heart and it is usually done in fancy dress for birthdays or other special events! Just outside of Leeds there are plenty of places to get some fresh air and take longer, picturesque walks in nature. Rodley Nature Reserve is one of those places. You will find everything from grassland to marshes to meadows and are likely to spot all kinds of species of birds and animals if you have your eyes peeled. Roundhay Park is another great spot to get some fresh air and maybe bring a picnic. The 700 acre area is the only park in Leeds with a resident family of meerkats!

Car Hire Tips in Leeds

  • There are a few options for car hire if you are travelling to Leeds. From Leeds-Bradford airport is one option and another is from the city’s train station.
  • We recommend booking your car hire in advance in order to get the best deal and avoid any extra charges.
  • If you plan on staying close to the city centre then maybe a car isn’t necessary. However, even if you want to travel just outside of the centre to places like Headingley, with a car you are turning a 40-minute walk into a 5-minute drive.
  • Like most city centres, it is quite difficult to get parked in the very centre of Leeds but everywhere else, the roads are relatively simple to navigate and there is usually plenty of parking.
