Hemsedal, at a little over six hundred metres has a long season with snow sure slopes from November until May. This resort caters for all levels of expertise and it has a large area dedicated to children. There is also an activity park where they can play and sledge. If you wish to be close to the city, the Oslo Winter Park is less than half an hour from the centre. Its season lasts from the beginning of December until the end of April with snow canons for use if there should be a shortfall. The slopes have something for everyone and is very family friendly. The ski resorts in the north of the country have limited pistes and are more suited to crosscountry skiing.
