July 2025 continues the downward trend in holiday prices, with Cheeky Trip’s latest analysis showing an average 6.8% drop compared to July 2024. This is now the largest consecutive July price decline recorded since at least 2019, offering holidaymakers even more opportunities to secure a deal during the peak summer season.
Booking Window Breakdown – Prices Falling at All Stages
- Holidays departing within 1 week: down 3.8% compared to July 2024.
- Holidays departing within 1 month: down 9.0% year-on-year.
- Holidays booked six months ahead: down 8.1% compared to this time last year.
These consistent drops across all booking periods highlight a broad market softening, rather than just a seasonal fluctuation.
Short-Haul vs Long-Haul Trends
- Short-haul prices are down 2.4% year-on-year.
- Long-haul holidays have fallen by a much sharper 11%.
This split mirrors patterns seen in recent months, with long-haul deals continuing to offer the biggest savings for travellers willing to go further afield.
Destination Breakdown – Malta & Bulgaria Buck the Trend
While the majority of destinations are cheaper than last year, two have gone against the grain:
Price Rises:
- Malta: +15.0%
- Bulgaria: +3.2%
Notable Price Falls:
- Spain (mainland): -4.4%
- Caribbean: -6.7%
- Greece: -12.1%
- Portugal: -8.5%
- Balearic Islands: -9.6%
- Turkey: -19.0% (biggest faller this month)
Turkey’s continued year-on-year price drop makes it one of the most competitive destinations for
July getaways, while long-haul destinations like the Caribbean are also seeing stronger-than-usual discounts for the peak summer period.
Expert Commentary
Steve Campion, Managing Director at Cheeky Trip, commented on the figures:
“July is one of the most in-demand months of the year, so to see such consistent drops across all booking windows is significant. The overall fall of 6.8%—the largest July-to-July drop we’ve seen since at least 2019—shows that there’s still plenty of value out there, even at the height of summer.”
He adds:
“The standout story remains the gap between short-haul and long-haul pricing. With long-haul prices down 11% and destinations like Turkey down almost 20%, travellers prepared to be flexible could secure exceptional deals this summer.”
Summary
With prices down across nearly all major destinations, July 2025 is shaping up to be one of the best-value peak summer months in years. Whether booking a last-minute trip or planning ahead, holidaymakers have more choice and better pricing than expected for the busiest time of the year.
