With the Christmas period already feeling like a distant memory, most of us are already longing for our next well-deserved break. Although summer is still quite a way off yet, a city-break to London could be just what you need. Today we highlight some of the key events happening in the nation's capital over the next month.

Superbowl - 5th Feb

The Superbowl is the biggest event in the American Football calendar, with this year seeing the Atlanta Falcons facing the New England Patriots in Houston. Even if you're not that interested in the football, the halftime show is a huge occasion in itself, this year being headlined by Lady Gaga. Balthazar and The White Lion are just a few of many places advertising their big Superbowl parties in the capital. Kick off is at 11pm, so if you can manage to stay up for it, it is set to be one of the biggest nights of the year.

Valentine's Day - 14th Feb

Valentine's Day falls on a Tuesday this year, so if a midweek getaway is what you're after or you just happen to be in the region, be sure to consider visiting London. If you're looking to treat a loved one, Covent Garden is the place to be. Clos Maggiore is a more affordable option, but if you're really looking to splash out then The Delaunay is the place for you. Single? Fear not! There are plenty of events on the day aimed at singletons. The big one is at The View from The Shard, where you can party the night away 1000ft in the air (if that's your thing)!

London Fashion Week - 17th - 21st Feb

London Fashion Week is one of the 'Big Four' fashion weeks in the global calendar, accompanied by Paris, New York and Milan. It is a chance to get a glimpse of some of the newest designs from the biggest names in fashion including Burberry and Versace. If you want to attend one of the world's most prestigious fashion shows, it is important to book tickets well in advance.

London Classic Car Show - 23rd - 26th Feb

If you prefer models with four wheels, then the Classic Car show is a different type of catwalk you should be attending. With a whole range of models on exhibit including the likes of Maserati, Aston Martin and Porsche, this is an event not to be missed by the automobile enthusiast. The highlight of the car show takes place on Grand Avenue. This is a road running through the centre of the exhibition where you can see the cars in action and have the opportunity to meet some of the drivers and owners.

Shrove Tuesday/ Pancake Day - 28th Feb

To wrap up February in London is Shrove Tuesday which falls on the 28th. Rather than just the conventional making of pancakes, the capital is host to some of the biggest pancake races there is. The Parliamentary Pancake Race is a charity event which sees MPs compete against each other. The Great Spitalfields Pancake Race however is a race which YOU can apply to be a part of, dressing up and racing for charity. If you aren't up to competing, be sure to cheer on the participants and enjoy a pancake around the corner at Crepe Affaire. They make some of the best in the city!
