Livigno ski holidays take you to an Italian resort that lies at an altitude of over eighteen hundred metres, high in the Alps and close to the Swiss border. With the highest skiing at three thousand metres, Livigno has a long and snow sure season. It is part of the Alta Valtellina ski area and offers one hundred and fifteen kilometres of piste. The centre of the village is pedestrianised and it has a good number of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. With pistes catering for all levels of proficiency Livigno ski holidays are in great demand. The resort is a good choice for those with non-skiers in their party as there is a good selection of activities within the village. For families, there is a non-ski kindergaten from the age of four and a ski kindergaten from the ages of six to twelve.

Livigno ski holidays.

Livigno is a long, thin village that sits between the two main ski areas. Novices can begin to learn the basics at the village nursery slopes and in no time at all they can head up the mountain to enjoy the variety of easy blue runs back down to Livorno. Intermediates will be delighted by their choice of runs. Take the gondola to over three thousand metres to find wide open pistes. For more challenging terrain head for Mottolino area. Experienced skiers can also enjoy Mottolino's black runs and the black runs from Monte Della Neva back to the resort. The Trepalle below Monte Della Neve  offers good off-piste skiing. Do take a mountain guide if you choose this option. Livigno is popular with snowboarders who can access seventy percent of the slopes. There are also two excellent snow parks, one of which is said to be the best in Italy.

Livigno hotels and apartments reach the high standards that you'd expect in an Italian resort. You are always given a warm and friendly welcome. There are plenty of restaurants both on and off the mountain offering a wide range of wholesome food. It will come as no surprise that pasta and pizza are a prominent and a very affordable feature of the menu. Nightlife is fairly lively with bars and discos. Recreational facilities include ice skating, snow-shoeing, tobogganing, snow tubing and dog sledding. Night skiing is also available.

The Livigno ski season lasts from the beginning of  December until the end of April. Many regional airports have direct flights to Innsbruck which has a transfer time of almost three hours. You can check on the Cheeky Trip website to see if your own local airport offers a direct service. The summer months are very popular too as visitors come to enjoy the beauty of the landscape and the pure mountain air. The village is especially popular with mountain bikers and hill walkers.
