Les Arcs ski holidays take you to a purpose built resort in the Tarentaise Valley in the Savoire region of France. It is comprised of five villages all at different altitudes. They are Arc 2000, Arc 1800, Arc 1600, Arc 1950 and Peisey Vallandry. They all have their own distinctive charm and characteristics. All but Arc 1950 are very modern in style. Arc 1950, the last to be built, is of traditional construction and has more of an alpine village ambience. Since 2003 with the opening of the Vanoise Express cable car, Les Arcs has been linked to the Paradiski ski area which gives a huge four hundred and twenty-five kilometres of pistes. With such a vast area, all levels of expertise in both skiing and boarding are accommodated.  Resort heights are around two thousand metres and the highest lift takes you to over thirty-two thousand metres so the season is fairly snow sure. There are snow making facilities on eleven percent of the runs which cover those at lower levels. Low cost Les Arcs ski holidays are in great demand as they really can please everyone. Families, couples and young adults are all attracted by the quality of the skiing and the great amenities.

Les Arcs has good nursery slopes where, with the help of excellent tuition, novices will soon be moving on to the gentle blues and greens. Intermediates have an enormous choice of runs at varying degrees of difficulty. Choose from wide open pistes to tree-lined runs. Experts can take the black piste down from Aiguille Rouge, a seven kilometre run with a vertical drop of an exhilarating two thousand metres. Snow boarders have a choice of two parks where they can find green, red and black runs and rails. Cross country skiers have forty-four kilometres of trails.

The Les Arc ski season opens in third week of December and closes at the beginning of April. The summer months are popular with hill walkers, climbers and mountain bikers. Lifts are available during July and August and there are ten marked routes for cyclists. Many regional airports have direct flights to Chambery, Geneva, Grenoble and Lyon.. They all have fairly lengthy transfer times, from two to three and a half hours. You can check on Cheeky Trip to see if your own local airport offers a direct service.
